Jokingly defined as the front backbone of a man, the tie has a fascinating history.
All over the world 600 million men regularly wear it and every man possesses at least about twenty of them.
But, where does the tie come from?
Steenkerke, a town in Belgium, vindicates the honor of having invented the tie.
In 1692 the English enacted a surprise attack on the French troops in this town and according to a newspaper of the time, the French officers did not have time to put on their uniforms, so in the great hurry they tied the scarf of the uniform around their necks inserting the extremities in the buttonholes of the jacket.
ET voilà! Messier The Tie!
Every man has his own, whether being the ultra-light hand crocheted tie, in cotton lint, grosgrain, in wool knit and so on - up to the fine printed silk tie.
